Mwaura Timothy is a filmmaker, director, and cinematographer born and raised in Nairobi, Kenya.
He is the co-director and cinematographer of the multi-awarded feature documentary SLEEPING WARRIOR (among others, )
His debut as a filmmaker was with his first feature documentary film SUBIRA (2016) - a documentary film about people living with Epilepsy in Kenya.
He has also worked as a cinematographer in award winning projects like WAZI FM? (Feature, winner ZIFF golden award 2015) and OWINO (Feature documentary, best foreign documentary Rome Independent Film Festival 2017).
In February 2020 he was selected as one of 16 cinematographers worldwide for Berlinale Talents.
He is currently working on a feature documentary TENA NA TENA (AGAIN AND AGAIN), a film about the strange loops we as humans are stuck in or forced to accept.
Filmmaking has taken him to places he only dreamt of, schooling him on topics best understood in real-time and while on set.
His life has become film, primarily documentaries.
